Endeavour Group is continuing the rollout of Automated External Defibrillators AEDs) across its network, with its network of more than 350 ALH hotels across the country to have the lifesaving equipment installed following the successful rollout across all Dan Murphy’s stores nationwide.

It comes as ALH and former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page’s Heart of the Nation charity join forces to improve the visibility of AEDs and in turn, increase survival rates of cardiac arrest through training, education and rapid access to these life-saving devices.

Head of Endeavour Build Paul Burrows said being prepared for emergencies is an important part of the group’s responsibility as a trusted hospitality provider.

“The deployment of AEDs through the ALH Hotels network is a proactive step to ensure that we are prepared to respond effectively to people suffering a cardiac arrest,” Burrows said.

“We believe that by having these devices readily available, we are better placed to respond in critical situations."

Greg Page said he is thrilled to be partnering with ALH Hotels for the initiative.

“AEDs can be used by anyone in the event of a cardiac emergency, even before professional medical assistance arrives,” Page said.

“All you need to do is turn it on, and it will read the patient’s heart rhythm. It talks to you and tells you what to do.

“The best thing is they do not cause any harm to the patient or the person using the device so you don’t need to be afraid to use one.”

Mr Page said the ease of the devices allows untrained individuals to respond quickly and effectively to help a person in the event of an emergency.

“It’s extremely important that we work together to increase the visibility of these devices and it’s great that ALH have stickered the entry to their venues to ensure passersby can see there is an AED onsite,”Page added.

As part of the rollout, a number of initiatives have been implemented to maximise the effectiveness of these devices including AED access and visibility as well as up skilling for staff to assist in the event of an emergency.
