In an inspiring display of collaboration and empowerment, a remarkable group of female wine experts and retailers will be joining forces with the esteemed viticulture virtuosos at Brown Brothers, to show the end-to-end process of harvesting a vintage.

The initiative will give seven women team members from Dan Murphy’s the opportunity to have a hands on harvest experience, from vine to bottle, under the tutelage of Brown Brothers esteemed winemakers Katherine Brown and Cate Looney.

The initiative not only underscores the importance of women's roles in the industry but also highlights the power of collaboration in creating wines that reflect a shared passion, skill, and dedication to the craft.

"This collaboration represents more than just the production of wine; it's a statement about the strength, creativity, and leadership of women in winemaking," Ms Brown said.

"Together, we are not only making our mark in the industry but also paving the way for future generations of female winemakers."

The two-day event taking place on 15 March (a week after International Women’s Day) at the Brown Brothers Winery in Milawa, Victoria will see team members learn about soil composition, the cycles of a grapevine, the influence of the environment during grape cultivation as well as harvesting grapes that will later be bottled.

The group will also learn about wine structure, style and flavours.

Dan Murphy’s Wine Merchant, and National Lead for Dan’s Women in Drinks Colleen Haggarty said the event provides an opportunity for mentorship as well as unrivalled, real-life experience that can translate into the retail space that will enhance the customer experience.

“For our team to work so closely with one of Australia’s most revered and established wine families, is an experience that can fuse learnings of outstanding wine quality as well as fostering a spirit of support among exceptional women,” she said.

“This camaraderie is something that truly embodies female empowerment.

“The initiative also allows our team to take that real-life knowledge and experience and take that back to the shop floor and help customers on their wine journey.

“Customers often look for a leading voice in the world of wine, regardless if they’re a wine aficionado or if they are simply wine-curious!”

The team will also have the opportunity to take part and celebrate the 21st release of the Brown Brothers Patricia range.

Made only in the very best years, from the highest quality grapes, the Patricia wines are the flagship of the Brown Brothers portfolio.  Named after the Brown family's matriarch and female leader in her time, Patricia would be proud of the work that these women are putting into the wine industry today.

This year's Patricia Release will include a King Valley grown 2018 Pinot Noir Chardonnay, a 2022 Chardonnay from Tasmania and a 2019 Shiraz from Victoria.
