Australia’s leading drinks and hospitality business Endeavour Group held its first Supplier Forum of 2024, with a continued focus on building a stronger and more connected supplier network.

Endeavour Group has almost 1800 drinks suppliers ranging from small boutique beer brewers to Australia’s most famous wineries, providing more than 85 percent of its products throughout Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.

A record number of suppliers registered for today’s forum, with more than 1,200 suppliers joining online.

The event provided the Group’s valued suppliers with the latest update on Endeavour’s improved supplier engagement and views on industry trends, product knowledge and innovation through an online discussion and live Q&As with Endeavour Group leaders.

Endeavour has been progressively enhancing its supplier arrangements with 14-day payment terms now permanently available for smaller suppliers and improved onboarding process to get new labels and products on its shelves more quickly.

Endeavour Group’s Buying and Merchandising Director, Tim Carroll said recognising the vital role suppliers play and ensuring they are aware of the latest industry and customer trends is key to building collective success.

“As the drinks industry continues to diversify and consumer tastes change, we remain focused on delivering what our customers want at great prices - and these forums are a really important way for us to bring suppliers on that journey,” Mr Carroll said.

“There have been $850 million of sales generated by new products in the last two years and 1,900 new products added to our range in the last year alone, which demonstrates our unwavering commitment to supporting our valued suppliers.

“We are seeing rapid changes in customers’ tastes and preferences, and the trend of consumers seeking out and trying new drinks is showing no signs of abating even in a higher cost of living environment.”

In a Group-first, this year’s Supplier Forum will be followed by four category-specific deep-dive sessions to be held throughout April.

“We are really pleased to launch this series of category deep-dives across wine, beer, spirits and premix to showcase new and emerging customer trends to a market demanding new taste profiles, moderation and options to ‘drink better’, all while staying responsive to macroeconomic conditions,” Mr Carroll said.

“We have seen some of our small suppliers really benefit from initiatives like this like Yarra Valley wine producer Zonzo Estate has seen exponential growth in recent months of its limoncello spritz Zoncello.

“Zonzo Director Rod Micallef has been creating the Italian classic Limoncello at home for more than two decades before he decided to make it commercial and luckily he did.

“Its soaring popularity has resonated not only with younger audiences with sweeter palettes but also older drinkers who see it as a nod to Italian history. This has been an incredible example of innovation, following consumer trends feeding back into an established brand story.”

Rod Micallef said the relationship with Endeavour Group had helped build on his success.

“We are lucky to have a great relationship with our category manager who we often email about ideas or changes to branding,” he said.

“He has been an amazing sounding board in assisting us with growth. He went above and beyond with us getting this on the market as quickly as we could get it bottled.”
