Australia’s leading drinks and hospitality business Endeavour Group has today announced it will invest $10 million in its Northern Territory hotels over the next three years, creating more local jobs and supporting local businesses.

Endeavour Group’s Australian Leisure and Hospitality (ALH) hotels business in the NT currently includes four venues, with the iconic Beachfront Hotel soon to join the portfolio following last week’s announcement that the ACCC would not oppose its proposed acquisition of the much-loved local venue.

Visiting the Beachfront Hotel on Monday morning, Endeavour Group CEO and Managing Director Steve Donohue said its businesses had operated in the NT for more than 60 years.

“Today we are really pleased to be able to share more detail on our plans for further investment in the NT, which will see our hotels undergo significant refurbishments and improvements over the next few years to ensure they meet the needs and preferences of the local communities they so proudly serve,” Donohue said.

“We want to do our bit to help create a vibrant hospitality industry for the NT, whether that be through employment opportunities, supporting local artists, or through partnerships with local sporting clubs and community groups.

“A big part of this is ensuring we make our venues and stores more relevant to locals. This means connecting with the communities in which we operate, and understanding what they want to see.

“We’re excited to be investing in Australia’s gateway to the top end. Along with many other industries we’ve seen significant growth in the region through sectors like tourism, with millions of international and domestic tourists transiting through Darwin each year, to experience some of Australia’s most beautiful and unforgettable travel experiences.”

Endeavour Group’s acquisition of the Beachfront Hotel will add to its existing network of retail stores and hotels in the NT, bringing its total number of employees in the territory to more than 220.

“Once again, I would like to thank the team at the Beachfront for their patience and in particular, Doug Sallis, for working with us since we first proposed to acquire the hotel in 2022.

“And we would like to reassure the community that we will work with them and listen to them as we embark on this journey, and we hope we can work really closely and collaboratively to create a more sociable future together.”

In addition to the investment slated for its NT Hotels, Endeavour Group will convert the existing bottle shop operations at the Beachfront Hotel into a BWS store with a significant internal refurbishment planned.
