Hiring Week kicks off again at Dan Murphy’s, with on-the-spot interviews being offered for more 2,500 roles
Australia’s leading drinks retailer Dan Murphy’s is once again preparing for its biggest recruitment campaign of the year, with on-the-spot interviews being offered in stores ahead of its busiest trading period.
After a record number of applications last year, Dan Murphy’s highly successful Hiring Week is returning for seven days from Monday, 4 September until Sunday, 10 September offering on the spot 10-minute interviews for those wanting to join the team of drinks connoisseurs at Dan Murphy’s.
Last year’s campaign saw more than 2,000 team members recruited with more than half still employed by Dan Murphy’s today.
Dan Murphy’s Managing Director Agi Pfeiffer-Smith said she is expecting the same big numbers in the lead up to the warmer months.
“This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to gain experience in drinks and get a foot in the door with one of Australia's most-loved retailers,” Ms Pfeiffer-Smith said.
“We are looking for more than 2,500 team members to help see us through our busiest time of year across our network of 268 stores. And the best thing is, there are roles to fill in each and every one of our stores right across the country. "
“The beauty of conducting interviews on the spot is that it not only expedites the process for those wanting to work with us, it also gives applicants the chance to get to know the team they may work with from the get-go.”
These roles come with a raft of benefits through the Endeavour Group network, including discounts across more than 350 ALH Hotels as well as savings at BWS and Woolworths supermarkets, in addition to discounts at Dan Murphy’s.
To be considered, applicants must be over 18, have a passion for customer service, a willingness to learn and a keen interest in our products and the drinks industry.
Dan Murphy’s ensures all team members have the mandated RSA accreditation, but those without will have access to free training and free RSA certification during the campaign - a saving of up to $200.
“We want people from all walks of life to consider spending a summer with Dan; those who are studying, those who want to return to the workforce or those who simply want to try something new in a different industry,” Ms Pfeiffer-Smith said.
“We pride ourselves on our culture of excellence with a great team-focused environment, and we provide ongoing training and offer a range of unique opportunities across our diverse network of retail stores, into hotels and wineries as well. "
20-year-old Alex Stapleton is a former Hiring Week recruit who has now progressed to management at Dan Murphy’s in Double Bay.
“I love the team and I love the pace here,” Alex said.
“I have also discovered a new appreciation for wine and working with some of the wine specialists has really helped me develop that.”
“Dan’s offers a lot of training and there’s also the chance to get involved with some of the on-site tastings too. This is a really good way to get more in-depth experience."
“It really comes in handy when customers come to you looking for advice for a particular pairing or when they are looking for the perfect gift.”
Across the country, there are approximately 750 roles in NSW, 690 in QLD, 600 in VIC/TAS, 240 in WA and 220 in SA.
