Parma for a Farmer raising much-needed funds for those living on the land, one bite at a time
ALH Hotels and one of Australia’s most well-known agriculture charities Rural Aid have teamed up for the entire month of February, to help raise money for Aussie farmers doing it tough.
Parma for a Farmer will see $1 from each chicken parmigiana sold at participating ALH Hotels donated to help fund water initiatives on farms, fodder for animals, mental health support as well as direct financial assistance for those struggling to make ends meet in regional Australia.
ALH Hotels General Manager Lukas McKay said more than 300 ALH Hotels right across the country will take part in the initiative after a hugely successful campaign last year.
“Last year, we were able to raise $113,505 to support farmers affected by natural disasters, and we hope to build on this success and once again rally Aussies to support farming communities who need our support now as much as ever,” he said.
"Pubs serve as the lifeblood of local and regional communities, playing an invaluable role in bringing people together.
“The chicken parma is our top selling food-item across ALH Hotels and we hope the funds raised can make a real impact.
“So, whether you're enjoying it with a refreshing pale ale, or sharing the moment with family, make it your number one menu choice for the month of February.
“We are grateful to our suppliers who have started us out with an incredibly generous $50,000 donation.”
Last year, Parma for a Farmer saw a record 113,505 parmigianas sold across ALH Hotels supporting farmers affected by natural disasters.
Funds raised this year will similarly contribute to Rural Aid's mission of supporting farmers and their families by addressing pressing needs such as water security, livestock support, counseling, and financial assistance.
CEO of Rural Aid John Warlters expressed gratitude for the continued support from Endeavour Group and ALH Hotels.
"These donations make a significant impact, contributing to the well-being and sustainability of rural areas across Australia,” he said.
“Farmers are stoic characters and continue to battle the elements on a daily basis. This much needed support will provide a vital lifeline to help them continue to do what they do best.
“We appreciate ALH’s ongoing commitment through the Parma for a Farmer campaign and welcome every purchase of a classic parma for this important cause."
More than 18,000 primary producers are registered with Rural Aid. Rural Aid offers farmers fodder, financial, water, wellbeing and volunteer assistance.
Last year, Rural Aid provided funding for the installation of 32 water tanks, each valued at $2,890, alongside clean drinking water loads at $600 per fill.
This initiative could ensure sustained access to clean water for approximately 32 households, fostering a healthier and more secure environment.
Livestock support also included the delivery of 550 hay bales, as well as direct financial assistance with more than 60 prepaid Visa cards each valued at $1500.
As ALH Hotels and Rural Aid join forces once again, patrons are encouraged to enjoy a delicious chicken parma this month, knowing that each bite contributes to a regional community in Australia.
