The Brook Hotel targets May re-opening following $30 million redevelopment, calls for new team members
Endeavour Group’s Australian Leisure and Hospitality (ALH) Hotels business has marked another key milestone as it prepares to open the doors to the refurbished Brook Hotel in Mitchelton, commencing a drive to employ up to 90 people to work in various roles across the new and improved venue.
ALH will invest $30.6 million in the development in total, which includes the newly opened Dan Murphy’s Mitchelton. It is the largest investment ALH has made in one of its Queensland hotels, representing a significant boost for the state’s economy.
A recruitment drive is now underway to fill roles across the management, kitchen, accommodation, and front of house teams, who will all play a key role in leading and creating the team culture in this brand new hospitality precinct.
The Brook will feature a public bar, sports bar, beer garden, bistro with outdoor dining terrace and kids play area, function room, gaming room, and a four-storey hotel with 40 state-of-the-art rooms, which are expected to be open for bookings from mid-September.
ALH Acting Managing Director Paul Walton said the next stage of the development would commence shortly with a major refurbishment of the old hotel due to commence in mid-April.
“We are so excited to enter this finishing phase of the project, and we are pleased to be offering up to 90 employment opportunities for those looking to work at one of Brisbane’s most exceptional old hotels re-imagined,” Walton said.
“The Brook was ready for a refurbishment, and it has been thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of the local community, and we hope it will become a destination to attract people from across Brisbane to this precinct."
“It will feel fresh and aesthetically quite modern - characteristics we know will resonate with our patrons.
“We’ve kept the best elements from The Brook of the past too. The fig tree that has stood proudly on the hotel footprint for around 60 years will take pride of place framing the entrance to the new venue.”
ALH intends to re-open the venue in late-May following completion of construction at the hotel, with the accommodation taking bookings from August.
The venue is currently operating at reduced capacity and will continue to work to minimise disruption to patrons during the next phase of construction.
